Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 31, 2026

Introduction

Lati ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.

By using Lati, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not use our services.

Lati is operated by Viet Anh Tran (ABN 95 813 859 194), trading as "Lati", based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Where this policy refers to "we" or "Lati", it means that operator.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Phone number and/or email address (for account creation and one-time-passcode sign-in)
  • Display name (chosen by you)
  • Profile photo or short profile video (optional)
  • Date of birth and gender (optional; you control whether each is shown on your profile)
  • Sport preferences (sports you play and your skill level)

If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and, if you choose to share it, your name and a (possibly private-relay) email address.

Location Data

Location access is optional but improves the app. When you grant it, we use your location to:

  • Show you nearby games, players, and sessions
  • Show approximate distance between you and other users
  • Order nearby results within the search area you choose
  • Suggest nearby sports venues and courts

You can control location access through your device settings. If location is turned off, nearby discovery is limited, but you can still use much of the app and can manually select or enter a venue or location when creating or finding games.

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • Device information (device type, operating system version)
  • App usage statistics (features used, session duration)
  • Games and sessions you create or join, and your attendance history
  • Messages, photos, and videos you send in group and direct chats
  • Reports you submit and users you block
  • Venue reviews and ratings you leave
  • Push notification token (if you enable notifications), so we can deliver alerts
  • Log and diagnostic data (including IP address) used to operate and secure the service

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide core services: Connect you with nearby players, facilitate game and session coordination, and process venue bookings
  • Improve user experience: Personalize recommendations and rank nearby results
  • Maintain trust and safety: Review reports, act on blocks, prevent abuse, and enforce community standards
  • Communications: Send you game notifications, app updates, and service announcements
  • Analytics: Understand usage patterns to improve the app
  • Legal compliance: Comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests

Information Sharing and Disclosure

With Other Users

When you use Lati, other users can see:

  • Your display name and profile photo or video
  • Approximate distance from them (e.g., "1.8 km away")
  • Sports you play and skill levels
  • Your age and gender, only if you choose to show them on your profile
  • Messages, photos, and videos you send in group and direct chats

We never share your exact location, email, or phone number with other users.

With Service Providers and Third Parties

We share limited information with the providers that help us run Lati, only as needed to provide the service:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, database, storage, and content delivery
  • Vercel — hosting for our websites
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, the Apple Push Notification service, and in-app purchases (e.g. optional tips), which Apple processes
  • Google — Sign in with Google, if you choose to use it
  • Twilio — sending the verification codes we text to your phone number
  • Resend — sending our service emails, such as verification codes and team invitations
  • Stripe — processing card payments for venue bookings; card details are handled directly by Stripe and are not stored on our servers
  • Legal authorities — when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public

We do not currently use third-party advertising networks, and we do not sell your personal information. Each provider handles your data under its own terms and privacy policy.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure authentication (JWT tokens)
  • Regular security audits
  • Access controls and monitoring

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update or correct your information in app settings
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt-out: Disable notifications, hide your profile visibility
  • Location control: Manage location permissions in device settings

To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@getlati.com

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account). When you delete your account:

  • Your profile is removed from discovery and your personal identifiers (such as name, photo, email, phone number, date of birth, and gender) are deleted or anonymized
  • You are removed from upcoming games and groups you had joined
  • Messages you already sent may remain visible to other participants for chat continuity, but your name and photo are replaced with "Deleted User"
  • Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained
  • Some data may be retained longer where required by law or to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our Terms

Children's Privacy

Lati is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

Users aged 13-17 must have parental consent to use Lati.

International Data Transfers

Lati is based in Australia, but our service providers operate globally. As a result, your information may be stored or processed outside Australia — including in the United States, where Cloudflare, Vercel, Apple, Google, Twilio and Stripe operate, and in Japan, where our email is processed. Where personal information is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable Australian privacy law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Posting the new policy in the app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date
  • Sending you an in-app notification (for material changes)

Continued use of Lati after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
